Software

Calypso supports jack-up operations. We do so through specialized engineering and strict application of rules and standards.
We use, and improve upon, dedicated software on a daily basis to perform engineering projects. Two stand-alone applications are made available to jack-up owners and operators. This enables them to perform assessments in-house and become more independent from third-party engineering services.

Our software

Our software is offered through a web-based service. The user can log-in from any place in the world with an internet connection and perform jack-up analysis. It comes with a quality management system (QMS) where all projects are stored and all changes are traceable. Projects are searchable by jack-up and by location. A software license comes with unlimited access for one user for one year. An unlimited amount of analysis can be performed with the license.

Calypso LPA app

The Calypso LPA application enables the user to perform Leg Penetration Analysis. It is the software implementation of section 9 of the ISO 19905-1:2023 standard. The app enables the user to determine the expected penetrations of any spudcan shape, given the exerted preload and the soil profile. The following key features are included:

  • Analysis of unlimited number of soil layers
  • Complex multi-layer interaction, including Hanna-Meyerhof and load-sharing
  • Punch-through mechanisms
  • Complex soil behaviors including squeezing of clay
  • Back-fill and in-fill effects
  • Sophisticated spudcan geometry
  • Efficient analysis and report delivery

Calypso SSA app

The Calypso SSA application enables the user to perform Site-Specific Assessment of jack-ups. It is the software implementation of ISO 19905-1:2023. A single license enables the user to perform unlimited assessments of a single jack-up type. All data of the jack-up, including leg structure, spudcan shape, jacking-system properties, hull strength and fixed items on deck are included in the jack-up type model which is tied to the license. All site-specific information is to be entered by the user, which includes:

  • Elevated weight and eccentricities
  • Planned operations
  • Deck layout
  • Soil profile
  • Water depth
  • Environment, including wind, wave and current

The application performs the analysis, including time-domain simulations to determine the Dynamic Amplification Factor (DAF), within several minutes and reports a detailed listing file.
